The President of the United States guardedly commended Colin Kaepernick for his refusal to stand for the Star Spangled Banner at a 49'ers football game. We take a hard look at Francis Scott Key's problematic third verse and help Colin with some history on the British navy. Also, we discuss moderating patriotism, maintaining gratitude for the nation, and offering respect where respect is due. Also, we caution the use of a pledge or oath of allegiance to a flag and a nation that is not truthful.
