2022: Our Busiest Year so Far

November 17, 2022

Generations is breaking out!

That’s the long and short of it. For twenty years, we have been working on foundations—a new curriculum, a new educational/family discipleship philosophy, a newscast that teaches a biblical worldview and edifies the listener, a clearer understanding of the times, a new philosophy for international missions, and a renewed view of the biblical family and family economy. By God’s grace, we’ve made it this far, and now we are ready to break out. There’s lots of good news to report as we come to the end of 2022, the busiest year ever for the Generations ministry!

Our online homeschooling webinars were better attended than ever. Our 10th annual Shepherd’s Conference was the best in-depth equipping we’ve ever done for dads. We are planning two Father-Son retreats here in Colorado for 2023, after packing out the event this year (and leaving too many dads and boys on the waiting list). The World View in 5 Minutes and Generations Radio are reaching tens-of-thousands of folks each day now with a biblical worldview applied to real life current events.

Father Son Retreat 2022

After years of preparation, we have finally completed and released our biblical worldview-based curriculum to the homeschooling market in the US. Currently, we estimate our Christian worldview-based, family discipleship-oriented curriculum reaches 6,000 families. We are making a dedicated investment to help strengthen the vision for family discipleship around the country.

Would you pray that our outreach to the US would increase to 30,000 families over the next five years? That’s only about 1% of the American evangelical families who homeschool their kids.

Granted, this discipleship approach (in the homeschooling context) is new to our world today, and it takes a while for the market to receive it. But we are now seeing an exciting penetration of this vision into the market, bringing a distinctively Christian worldview to literature, political science, economics, history, math, and science. Our strategy is not to “impact” the nation by a single book, a single evangelistic crusade, or a single political election. Our strategy is to impact the nation by families discipling their children for 18 years. This is what produces real change and lasting impact upon nations. Elections don’t save nations, but God’s Spirit working in the hearts of fathers and mothers, turning the hearts towards discipleship in the paideia of the Lord Jesus Christ, is the answer.

How does God’s Word apply to every area of life, but more specifically to our family’s life right here and right now? That’s the kind of equipping we want to supply to Christian families around the world. For example, our comprehensive guide to biblical economics for high school students (and all ages above) hit the mailboxes in June, and we’re already preparing for a second printing. The time is right to bring sensible, biblical principles back into the field of macro and micro economics. The wholesale violation of God’s laws of economics is bringing about a collapse of the world economy. Why not prepare our Christian families to build back some economic integrity on these principles?!? I believe even 14-year-old children should be able to understand the cause of inflation, the sheer evil of quantitative easing, the foolishness of a debt-based economy, the flagrant violation of biblical law at the highest levels of American government, and the biblical response to these issues. Let’s prepare our children with a vision for Biblical economics and a commitment to build fruitful family economies for the difficult years ahead!

My new book How the World Runs is an introductory course to economics written for high school students

Generations is going international! Our team presented the family discipleship vision to Portugal in July and Brazil in September. This was Brazil’s first homeschooling/family discipleship conference. One thousand people gathered (and another thousand online) as we proclaimed a much-needed message to the nation. The reception was phenomenal! While Generations curriculum is beginning to be translated into Vietnamese, Mandarin, Korean, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, and Dutch, nowhere is homeschooling experiencing as much exponential growth as in Brazil. We believe this is the time to strike while the iron is hot. Brazil has the third largest Christian population in the world, right behind the US and China (with 60 million evangelicals). And I would add, it has the fastest-growing Christian population. While America is in apostasy, Brazil is developing as a Christian nation, and it needs discipleship for Christ!

Discipleship is one of the very best ways the West can contribute to missions today. Nations like Brazil are already missionary-sending nations. Korea sends missionaries to the US. So what can Christian churches in the US do to best serve these nations in the South and East? Let’s equip them with Christian worldview and discipleship materials so their children will not be captured by worldly ideologies in the public schools. We don’t want parents to lose their children to the world generation after generation as we have witnessed in Europe and America over the past century! We are hoping to seed a 6-full grade translation project for our Christian Discipleship Curriculum in Portuguese and Spanish and make it available to 150,000 homeschooling families in Brazil and Spanish-speaking countries. Imagine what would happen if South America caught the vision, especially given the cosmic battle going on over current elections!

Our international and national strategy is simple: Disciple parents to disciple their children, and pray for generational faithfulness in this country and everywhere around the world! Pray for God’s blessings on families, churches, and nations!

Epoch: The Rise and Fall of the West

With the decay of Western civilization brought about by the dry rot of bad worldviews, the timing has never been better for a fruitful, biblical philosophy for educating the next generation. Generations is uniquely positioned to offer solid media, curriculum, and an educational/discipleship-based philosophy for such a time as this.

And friends, it is important that we discern the times and the needs of the day. That’s why I wrote my book Epoch. I want to equip families to understand the times. Pastor John MacArthur endorsed the book on June 19th, stating: “We have seen the Fall of the Christian West. . . Kevin Swanson has written a marvelous book called Epoch. Highly recommend it.”

I am also halfway through another book called Worldview: What We Believe, What They Believe, and Why They Are Wrong—I think this will be an important resource for rebuilding the foundations of faith (based on God’s Truth) in the next generation.

We are thankful for the prayers and financial support provided for this ministry over the last year! God has provided! We are anticipating the opening of a 20,000 square foot warehouse and facility for Generations sometime in the fall of 2023. This will be a welcome relief to the Swanson family, as we have pretty much maxed out our extra 5,000 square feet of our personal barn, basement, and garage to store our resources.

Thank you for standing with us during these critical growth years for the Generations ministry! Prayerfully consider helping us with the $600,000 need for next year as we set out to grow nationally and internationally, as God wills. What an exciting time in which to minister! What a privilege to be a part of this great kingdom work that is moving ahead full speed in our generation!

Your fellow servant in the Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,
